Happy Patriot's Day!!! A Windy but Exciting Marathon In Beantown!

April in Boston brought 40 degree weather and a lot of wind but that didn't slow down the 26,000 runners in the Boston Marathon today. Americans Kara Goucher and Ryan Hall both took third place in the women's and men's open race and American Shirley Reilly took third in the women's wheelchair division. Solina Kosgei, of Kenya, won the women's race by a leg in 2:32:16 with Kara Goucher about 9 seconds behind second place after leading from Cleveland Circle.

Deriba Merga, from Ethiopia was almost a full minute in front of the second place finisher and won the men's division in 2:08:42.

Boston handled the massive crowds well as always and the city was buzzing with Marathon excitement. Here are a few shots from Commonwealth Ave.

Congratulations to all the runners (and to the Red Sox for a Patriot's Day 12-1 win)!!
