David's Run 5K - Chesterbrook - Scenic Flat Course for a Good Cause

Thanks to a Philly-area runner for this review of this past weekend's David's Run 5K! Keep sending in your race reviews to raceraiders@gmail.com!

This past Sunday was the 4th Annual David's Run 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk in Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania with proceeds benefitting The David Gallagher Foundation which raises funds for epilepsy and students with learning disabilities in memory of David Gallagher. David was a Marathon runner (New York , Philly) and Conestoga High School alumnus and Penn State Graduate. David died suddenly at 24 years of age and this race was set up to honor his memory and support causes that were close to him.

The annual 5K race takes place on the first Sunday in April in beautiful Wilson Park in the Chesterbrook area of Berwyn, PA. The course rambles on asphalt sidewalks through Wilson Park past lakes, fountains, neighborhoods and kid’s ball fields. The race starts at 9:30 AM rain or shine and the entry fee is $20 in advance and $25 on race day. They host post-race festivities that offer plenty of fruit, bagels, donuts and beverages compliments of WAWA [any race that offers WAWA foods is a great race in my book - raceraiders]. They also had a great singer/ guitar player and health counselors available for all participants. There were about 100 to 150 runners this year including strong support from the local Conestoga high school girls track, lacrosse and softball teams which brought a nice sense of community and spirit to the run. It was generally a low-key group of runners and a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The course is nearly 100% flat and is a great course for beginners.

Almost completely flat course
Great for beginners
Benefits a good cause and brings a strong sense of community
Scenic, pleasant run without a ton of traffic
